General information about the institute

  The Medical Institute of Karakalpakstan was organized by the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated October 1, 1991 in order to train highly qualified medical personnel and improve their skills and improve the health of the population of the Aral Sea region.

  According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated February 14, 2020 No.-4598 “On the establishment of the Medical Institute of Karakalpakstan” (https://lex.uz/docs/4735411) TashPMI was transformed into the Medical Institute of Karakalpakstan (KMI).

  The same age as the Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, its activities are a vivid reflection of the colossal transformations and achievements in the field of medicine and higher education that are taking place in our country.

  The Medical Institute of Karakalpakstan is a forge of medical personnel of the Aral Sea region, one of the best universities in Uzbekistan. Students from all regions of Uzbekistan, as well as from the cities of Tashkent, Samarkand, and Andijan study here. In recent years, students from Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Russia have enrolled.

  The Institute provides training in three languages: Karakalpak, Uzbek and Russian, as well as academic groups with English as the language of instruction. The educational process is conducted in accordance with the state educational standard.

  More than 20 medical and preventive institutions of the Republic of Karakalpakstan are the clinical bases of the Institute, where students consolidate their theoretical knowledge and master practical skills.

  If in 1991 there were only 100 students, and there was only one faculty – pediatrics, at present the institute has trained more than 1800 bachelors in 6 areas, clinical residents in 32 areas, masters. Doctors from all over Karakalpakstan are undergoing advanced training and retraining. In a short time, the Institute has created a modern educational, material and technical, clinical base.

  For 33 years, the Institute has trained more than 4,000 graduates and more than 800 clinical interns who work in more than 10 countries around the world. Our students were awarded scholarships by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the State Prize named after him. Zulfiya, scholarships of the Association of Doctors of Uzbekistan, the gold medal of the International Red Cross Society, and also became winners of international tournaments and conferences. Every year our students take prizes at the republican subject Olympiads.

  Along with national universities and civil institutions, the institute’s partners are leading medical universities in Austria, France, Italy, Korea, Bulgaria, Russia and other countries. Joint international conferences, seminars, master classes on topical issues of healthcare and higher medical education are held annually, as well as the exchange of experience between students and teachers.

The Institute has:

1. I-Faculty of Medicine:

  • Higher nursing.

2. II-Faculty of Medicine:

  • Pediatrics;
  • Medical Biology;
  • Pharmaceuticals;
  • Medical and preventive.

  To date, the Institute has 20 departments, 32 areas of clinical residency, 300 professors and teachers, more than 2,500 students, masters and clinical residents. 5 labor conferences, more than 30 monographs, textbooks and manuals, more than 1,500 scientific articles, including 500 in foreign journals, have also been published. 3 international projects, 3 applied projects have been completed. Participated in 3 international and 5 Republican scientific and practical conferences. 20 doctoral dissertations have been defended.
