The State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Karakalpakstan

The law “On the State Emblem of the Republic of Karakalpakstan” was adopted on April 9, 1993 at the 12th meeting of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. 

The State emblem of the Republic of Karakalpakstan means the state sovereignty of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. 

The coat of arms depicts the golden sun rising over the dark blue mountains, the Amu Darya River and the Aral Sea. A wreath of cotton and wheat branches is tied with ribbons of the national colors of Uzbekistan and Karakalpakstan, on the lower intercept of the ribbon there is an inscription: “QARAQALPAQSTAN” in red letters; in the upper part of the coat of arms there is a blue eight-pointed star with gold edging, expressing the unity of peoples, and a silver crescent and a star in the core, which are sacred symbols of Muslims.

In the foreground is a silver—colored Humo bird of happiness, which is a symbol of wealth, nobility and dedication.

A Kurgantag is depicted on the back of the Humo bird, which is a symbol of the unity of peculiar tags-veins of the ancient culture of the peoples of Karakalpakstan.

In the background is the ochre-colored fortress mountain Shylpyk, which is one of the oldest cultures of the Karakalpak people, a symbol of the antiquity of culture and identity of the peoples of Karakalpakstan.

Citizens of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as other persons residing in Karakalpakstan, are obliged to respect the state emblem of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
